Our vision is a luxury during the day yet at night, we must adapt. We instinctively use our other senses. Technology has become our new eyes at night. Streetlights, flashlights and other illuminating man made instruments makes the world conform to our wants and needs. Without these aids, the world becomes unfamiliar and primitive. I let go of this mentality of adaptation. I allow the world around me uninterrupted to continue. I come upon these landscapes as if a stranger on a foreign planet.
I built a 4x5 camera out of wood with a plastic lens. The lenses were manufactured to have soft focus and aberrations unique to each camera. The controls are limited yet results are varied.
